So yesterday’s course was one of the best I’ve attended, I learnt soooo much and and psyched to try out the techniques I learnt. Facilitating the course was the inspirational Rick Friedman (website). This guy is awesome. According to his website: “His published work appears in Time, Newsweek, U.S. News, The New York Times, USA Today, The Guardian, Der Spiegel, Stern, Discover and many other publications. He has produced over 75 book and magazine covers.” He’s a great speaker and really made me excited about pushing forward what I have been doing on location. We spent the day learning flash technques and throughout the day we had the opportunity to shoot our lovely model, Ciara. We also got a chance to do some alfresco shooting with Ciara in St Stephen’s Green, which was a great end to the day.
One thing that’s become clear is that I may need to organise to have an assistant or second shooter to help with the various lighting setups. Also I think I need to look at my mobile rig to ensure it’s portable as possible.
The SWPP event was supported by Canon, and I had a chance to try out some of their lenses. I was like a kid in a very expensive sweet store – now have added three lenses to my wish list – I’m going to have to be very nice to my bank manager!
Here’s some photos from yesterday’s workshop.

As usual my last shots of the day end up being the best. Love these two images I captured of model Ciara in St Stephen’s Green.
